This is the Tiger Swallowtail I did for the Butterflies and Friends silent auction. The Gala is Saturday October 12th. Here is the link: http://www.butterfliesandfriends.org/
This is a little 6 x 6 inch very detailed acrylic original.
I put the scales on his wings and the hairs on his body with a tiny tiny brush
and then I added a touch of blue iridescence onto his wings on the blue
and gold iridescence onto the sunlit areas. There are dill flowers in a fuzzy impressionistic style to add depth to the background.
If you win this at auction I suggest a nice 1 1/2" to 2" gold wood frame.
Sorry for the poor image quality there is a lot of reflected light because a used a gloss glaze.

"Heart of the City" by Renee Hathcoat

It is the scenery surrounding Colorado Springs, that inspires great joy and love for His infinite gift of beauty in our world. I focused attention in this smaller version on the 'kissing camels' with a heart to enhance the theme of the event. The bright surrealistic colors enhance the natural color of our red soil.
It reminds me of the red of the blood of His sacrifice that covers us all when we accept His gift of salvation.
