Renee Hathcoat is best known for her commercial and private art glass installations with Hathcoat Studios LTD, which she has co-owned and designed for 20 years, but is skilled in creating in a variety of media.
Renee enjoys the challenge of commissioned work and finds the freedom to play in the non-commissioned art pieces an opportunity to explore and stretch her abilities. Her images usually have symbolic messages and are inspired by the ultimate Creator who has given her the gift of creating.
Having a BA in Studio Art from Colorado College and an Associates in Computer Science from Colorado Tech, Renee has blended her education with her practical life experiences. She is currently teaching homeschool, after school, adult group and private, art classes in drawing, painting, and sculpting. She has taught art history and is teaching private art classes at her home studio. To inquire email: ReneeHathcoat@gmail.com
In her need to learn new skills, use her hands, and create, Renee has worked as everything from a carpenter and concrete form setter - on oil refineries on top of mountains in Evanston Wyoming - to custom homes like Alex Trebek’s in California - to landscaper (designing and installing), custom silver jewelry maker, building stained glass lampshades and windows, and designing websites! She has worked as a ski photographer, dog sled musher, and managed a custom T-shirt shop in Breckenridge for 5 years!
While in Breckenridge Renee won many awards for snow sculpting, was commissioned to create large (10x10x12 and 15x5x10 ft) sculptures for the 1985 World Cup in Vail Colorado, which she won awards for, and was invited to snow sculpt in Finland’s winter festival and Calgary Canada for the 1988 Winter Olympics.
Renee has created large welded outdoor sculptures to small desktop glass sculptures!
You can find her artwork from The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs to Dubai in the U.A.E. Renee and her husband Paul have provided custom glassware for President Bush, Vice President Gore, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, the 2000 Oscars awards dinner, Tina Turner, Will Smith, Oprah, and others. Former Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Emir of Abu Dhabi and President of the U.A.E. owned four full custom sets of 48 place settings of our finest pieces of Art Glass dinnerware.
